James Danny Hinson

James Danny Hinson, 76, of Troy, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Atrium Health Stanly in Albemarle. Born on August 4, 1949, in Montgomery County, he was the son of the late James Pearson and Mary Lou Hardister Hinson.

A proud veteran, Danny served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he dedicated many years to his community, serving as a devoted deacon at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Troy. His quiet faith and steady willingness to help others left a lasting impression on those around him. He retired as a supervisor with the Asheboro Housing Authority after 21 years of service. Danny was a man of few words whose actions revealed a deep sense of responsibility and care. He found simple pleasure in tending to his yard.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Oliff Hinson; daughter Dawn McCauley and her husband Michael of Washington; sisters Diane Hogan and her husband Larry of Albemarle, Sandra Ussery of Troy, and Barbara Corbett and her husband Don of Troy; two grandsons, two granddaughters, and two great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his son, Bill Cothran.
