James “Jim” Creek, 74, of Shelbyville, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, in Frankfort. Born in Allen County, Kentucky, to the late Margaret Frances Beam and Joe Hugh Creek, Jim was a longtime member of the Church of the Annunciation. He retired from Kentucky State Government, where he served as a supervisor in the Bureau of Land Management, Division of Abandoned Mine Lands. He found deep joy in farming, deer hunting, being outdoors, and traveling with family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepson, Rick Faust.
Jim is survived by his wife, Betty K. Creek of Shelbyville; his stepsons, Michael T. Faust (Dior) of Cohutta, Georgia, and Louis “Doug” Faust (Lynda) of Waddy; his stepdaughter, Dianna M. Parrish (Tod) of Paris; his sister, Julie Smithson (Denny), and his brother, Jerry Creek (Cheryl), both of Scottsville. He leaves behind a large and loving family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who will carry forward the memories of his quiet strength, love of the land, and steadfast presence in their lives.
