September 22, 1946 March 8, 2026

Latham, NY

James Christopher Aube, born September 22, 1946, in Albany, New York, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026.

He worked for New York State for over 35 years before retiring from the NYS Department of State as Head of Corporations in 2002. Jim was also a proud Vietnam veteran.

Above all else, Jim loved his family. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Sue E. Aube, and a proud father and grandfather. When his first grandchild was born 26½ years ago, Jim began a tradition that became the heart of the family — cooking Sunday dinner every week so that his family, especially his grandchildren, would always stay close. For more than two decades, those Sunday gatherings created countless memories and strengthened the bonds of family that he cherished most.

Jim was also known for his generosity and quietly supported many charitable causes throughout his life.

Jim was predeceased by his mother, Anne M. Aube; his brothers, John Aube and Alfred “Fred” Aube; and his son, Todd M. Aube.

In addition to his wife, Sue, he is survived by his daughters, Tamora (Daniel) Hanley, Dawn (Roger) Renko, and Michelle (Michael) Meyers; and his eight beloved grandchildren: Liam, Kiernan, Taryn, and Ashlyn Hanley; Nicholas and Elizabeth Renko; and Bailey and Faith Malo.

Jim will be remembered for his devotion to family, his lifelong public service, and the love he shared around the Sunday dinner table — a tradition that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Visitation 9:00 am to 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet Shaker Rd, Latham, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 10:00 am at the church. Interment will follow at 12:30 pm at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jim’s memory to American Heart Association.
