James "Jim" C. Kramer

James “Jim” C. Kramer, age 79, passed away on March 4, 2026 in Madison, Wisconsin. Born in Madison on July 22, 1946 to Theodore C. Kramer and Helen J. (Bailey) Kramer Gehri, Jim grew up on the Eastside and graduated from East High School in 1964.

After high school, he apprenticed as a tile setter before joining Madison Gas & Electric in 1970, where he worked for 38 years and formed many lasting friendships. He was an avid pheasant hunter and fisherman, yet when asked about his greatest achievement, Jim always said it was his two sons, whom he considered himself incredibly lucky to have. He married Julie Killerlain in 1966, and the couple celebrated 60 years of marriage this past January.

Jim is survived by his wife, Julie Kramer; sons, Ted (Lisa) and Tom (Melissa); grandson, Kyle (Marissa); great-grandson, Colton; great-granddaughter Amelia, due in May; step-granddaughter, Isabella; sisters, Joan Thompson and Penny (Norvin) Manuel; brother, Dean (Karen) Gehri; sisters-in-law, Diane Heindl, Marilyn Jahnke, and Lynn Bonfield; and former brother-in-law, Dave Jahnke. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Marvin Gehri, brother John, and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.
