Bowling Green, KY
James Barry Jones, known affectionately as Jim, passed away on March 8, 2026, at The Medical Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky, at the age of 79. Born on July 13, 1946, in Warren County, Kentucky, to the late Marvin and Edna Jones, he was the grandson of the late Elbert Porter “Kuch” Jones and Bessie Susan Manco Jones.
Jim shared 60 devoted years of marriage with his beloved wife, Barbara Stamps Jones. Together they built a life grounded in faith, family, and hard work. A proud veteran, he served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He later enjoyed a long career, retiring from Bridgestone in LaVergne, Tennessee, and later from Kobe Aluminum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. A faithful member of Cumberland Trace Church of Christ, formerly Lehman Avenue Church of Christ, Jim lived his strong Christian faith among a loving church family.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Stamps Jones; his daughters, Stephanie DePriest (Josh) of Brentwood, Tennessee, and Leslie Dickerson (Nate) of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; and his four cherished grandchildren, Addison and Patrick DePriest, and Porter and Connor Dickerson, who brought him great pride and joy. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Mills of Three Forks, Kentucky, and his brothers, Willie Jones of Alabama and Richard Jones of Versailles, Kentucky.
Jim will be remembered for his quiet strength, kindness, and steadfast dedication to his family, his country, and his faith. His legacy of love and integrity endures in the hearts of all who knew him.
