James Arthur Krump

Barney, ND

James Arthur “Beetle” Krump, 67, of Barney, North Dakota, passed away on March 4, 2026, in Fargo at Sanford Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 9, 1958, in Breckenridge, Minnesota, to Art and Bernice (Braun) Krump, James lived a life defined by deep devotion to family, steady hard work, and a quiet appreciation for the simple pleasures that brought him joy.

Known affectionately as “Beetle,” he was the beloved husband of Jeanette Krump and a devoted father to his daughter, Jennifer (John) Walter, and son, Chad (Samantha) Krump. He shared a special bond with his stepsons, Taylor, Sean, and Wyatt. James found great happiness in the roar of demo derbies and the thrill of riding snowmobiles, motorcycles, and Rangers. He balanced those adventures with quieter times at the casino in Hankinson or watching classic westerns when he wasn’t following football or NASCAR. He took quiet pride in keeping his lawn meticulously mowed and cared for, a small reflection of the order and care he brought to everything he did.

A man of strong work ethic and genuine generosity, James was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His kindness and willingness to support others left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, Art Krump, and his brother, Barry Krump.

James is survived by his mother, Bernice Krump of Breckenridge, Minnesota; his wife, Jeanette; his children, Chad (Samantha) Krump and Jennifer (John) Walter; his stepsons, Sean (Jessy) Johnson, Taylor (Chelsea) Johnson, and Wyatt Johnson; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his brothers, Cook (Shelly) Krump and Dike (Janelle) Krump; his sisters, Rhonda (Darrin) Gorden and Con (Dag) Solien; his sister-in-law, Onnalee Krump; his ex-wife, Deborah (Reiff) Krump; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
