James Anthony Lawson Sr.

James Anthony “Tony” Lawson, Sr., 65, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026. Born to the late Rosella (Casey) and Marvin Lawson, Tony cherished quiet moments watching the river flow from his deck and found great joy in karate as well as hunting and fishing alongside his sons.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Yates.

Tony is survived by his wife of 23 years, Dawn (Stearsman) Lawson; his children, T.J. Lawson (Samantha), Jake Lawson (Kirsty), Jeremy McKinley, Corey McKinley, and Elzabeth McKinley; his brother, David Lawson (Sally); his sisters, Janet Dolson, Marsha Thompson, and Julia Kinley; and his grandchildren, Aubrey, Aiden, Trey, Xavier, Tucker, and Violet Lawson, Abigail Shafer Suhr, Avery Burns, Madison, and Gracie McKinley. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who found deep fulfillment in the outdoors and in the company of his family.
