James Allan Newsome

James Allan Newsome, 59, of White City, Florida, passed away at home on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, after a brief illness.

Born on July 4, 1966, in South Carolina to Tommy and Kathrine Newsome, James served 26 years with the Gulf County Sheriff’s Department. A dedicated public servant, he spent many years as a volunteer firefighter while also greeting visitors and sharing stories at the Gulf County Courthouse. An avid bass fisherman, he cherished every chance to head out on the water, often speeding through the canal toward Lake Wimico in search of his next catch.

Above all, James was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Stephanie; two children, Meagen (Travis) and Dani (Chris); four grandchildren, Stella, Maverick, Ava, and TJ; and two brothers, Paul (Linda) and DJ (Tonya).
