He proudly served six years in the National Guard and later worked many years in the mobile home industry, where his dedication and leadership quickly led him to the position of manager. He was known for his strong work ethic and his ability to build or fix almost anything.On July 21, 2001, he married Ada Kennedy, though their love story began 14 years earlier. Together for 39 years, they shared a life filled with faith, family, bowling, baseball, and cherished road trips.Jim also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved playing golf, talking about golf, and watching golf. He was a devoted fan of the Atlanta Braves and rarely missed a chance to watch a game. He also loved watching NASCAR racing, and his favorite number was 24.Ada often said she never wanted for anything - Jim was her right arm and constant source of strength.He is survived by his devoted wife, Ada; his daughter, Beth McDonald and husband Paul; his step-children, Barbara Kennedy, Gurman Gene Kennedy Jr. and wife Karen, Sherman Jospeh Kennedy, James Kennedy and wife, Lois, Susan Futrell and husband Greg; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, who were his greatest joys.He was preceded in death by his sisters, Betsy Sauter and Nell Moore.Mr. Jim will be forever loved and dearly missed.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
