Maj. James Albert Earl III, known to all as Jim, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, at the age of 94 in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on November 5, 1931, in San Antonio, he lived a life defined by quiet strength, unwavering devotion, and a deep sense of duty. An Eagle Scout, a proud Texas A&M graduate, and a U.S. Air Force fighter pilot who rose to the rank of Major, Jim served his country with distinction and carried those same values of honor and responsibility into every part of his life. To his family, he was the steadfast mentor and the one who held generations together through his steady presence and quiet wisdom.

Jim was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Bettye Alren Earl, and a loving father to his children, Kathleen Messina, Martha Cain, and James A. Earl IV. He cherished his role as grandfather to Michele Miller, Robert Miller (Laura), Sunny Perez (Kenon), and Dylan Larson (Savannah), and took great joy in his seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
