James A. Walko

James A. Walko

November 21, 1952 March 6, 2026

Middletown, DE

James A. Walko, age 73, of Middletown, Delaware, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Born on November 21, 1952, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Jimmy was the youngest son of the late John and Veda Treece Walko. Raised in Lansdale, he graduated from North Penn High School before enlisting in the Navy in 1970. Stationed in Keflavik, Iceland, he maintained electrical equipment for Naval Air and always spoke with pride of his service and the memories he made there.

A loyal husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Jimmy was known for his helpful and kind nature and his remarkable ability to fix anything. Family remained his top priority throughout his life. He is survived by his wife, Jamie Walko; his daughter, Jenny Grady, and son-in-law, Christopher Grady; his grandchildren, Jacey and Christopher James; his sister, Joan, and Jay Houser; his brother, John, and Barbara Walko; and many others whose lives he touched.

Jimmy embraced a work-hard and play-harder approach to life. He worked as a mechanic, plumber, pipefitter, and grocery manager, and took special pride in his time in the produce industry at Third Base Produce and with the Willey’s work family. He cherished playing and coaching softball, never missing a weekend of travel ball with his daughter Jenny. A devoted Phillies and Eagles fan, he also found joy in bowling, camping, fishing, dancing, beach visits, and savoring coffee by the pool at sunrise. He loved jamming to music at festivals, especially the Philadelphia Folk Festival.
