James A. Thomas, Jr.

James A. Thomas, Jr., age 79, of Englewood, passed away on March 10, 2026, at his home. A man of deep faith, James loved God, his family, and the satisfaction of a day’s work outdoors. He was a longtime member of the Baptist church and lived his life guided by those quiet, steadfast values.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Stella Thomas; sisters Margaret Lee, Alice Ruth Atkins, and Annette Pulley; and brother Ernest Thomas.

James is survived by his wife of many years, Kay Stakely Thomas; daughter Tina Thomas Gates; sons Darren Thomas and Dustin (Susan) Thomas; grandchildren Mallori J. Gates, Jake (Brittany) Thomas, Cameron Land, Noah Land, and Caleigh (Kyle) Birdwell; great-grandchildren Maddi Petrillo, Rhett Thomas, and Marli Thomas; sister and brother-in-law Pat and Pat Cook; brother and sister-in-law Bo and Tammy Stakely; sister-in-law Chris Shutt; and several nieces and nephews who will carry forward the love and memories he so generously shared.
