James A. Conroy

1945 — 2026

Cicero, NY

James A. Conroy, known to all as Jim or affectionately as Cleaver, passed away on March 14 at the age of 80. Born in Syracuse, New York on June 16, 1945, he was predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Mary Conroy, and his brothers, John, Thomas, and Martin.

Jim spent his career with Niagara Mohawk, retiring as a line foreman in 2005. He found great joy in boating, golf, and traveling with his wife Doreen. He was a daily presence at the Cicero American Legion, where he shared countless hours with dear friends.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doreen, the love of his life; daughters Kelly Hills and her husband Michael of Edgewater, Florida, and Maureen of Albuquerque, New Mexico; granddaughter Julia Wood of New Jersey; his beloved grandpets Lucca and Turbo; and several nieces and nephews. His cherished friends included Billy Bryant, Buzzy, his longtime pitch partner Richie, Doug, and the many pals he considered family at the Cicero American Legion. The family is especially grateful for Katrina, his “adopted granddaughter,” who provided devoted help in his final days.
