New Bothwell, MB
Jake Hiebert passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on Thursday, March 12th, at De Salaberry District Health Centre in St. Pierre.
Jake grew up in New Bothwell, where he developed a lifelong love of baseball and was known as something of a mischief-maker at school. In 1964 he married Alvera, and the couple moved to Red Lake, where he worked in a gold mine. They returned to New Bothwell just before the birth of their daughter, and Jake went on to lay carpets for Eatons and Wm Dycks before becoming a truck driver for Reimers. He truly loved driving. In later years, as his health changed, he worked at the cheese factory in New Bothwell. During retirement he taught himself about computers and took great pleasure in helping others with their technical challenges.
He is survived by his wife Alvera, daughter Brenda (Wendell) and their children Justin and Eric (Aynsley); sons Gary (Regina) and their children Reyna (Justin), Sammi (Jared), and Jayden (Sammi); Mike (Roxie) and their children Cate and Hannah; Tim (Karis) and their children Noah, Nate, and Emmy; and two great-grandchildren, Easton and Brynn. He is also survived by his sister Frieda (Dennis) and sisters-in-law Mary and Louise. Jake was predeceased by his parents John and Maria Hiebert, four brothers, three sisters, and his grandson Elijah Hiebert.
