Jacqueline "Jackie" Marie Mitchell, 71, of Livonia, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
A loving mother to Sarah Bacheller, Dean Bacheller (Gina), Kate Bacheller, and James Bacheller (Liz), she was a proud grandmother to Avery, Addison, Gabriel, Mason, Ella, Aurora, Jacob, Devin, and Macal. She was the dear sister of Judy Hartman, Thomas Mitchell (Judy), the late Linda Van Rosen, the late Charles Mitchell (Suzie), the late John Mitchell (Gerri), and the late Heather Boegler, and she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Jackie loved fiercely every day of her life. A woman of deep faith and quick wit, she brought endless joy to those blessed to know her. She taught her children to use their voices through her own, whether in public speaking, her volunteer advocacy at Angela Hospice, or singing “I’m the Greatest Star” from Funny Girl while dancing around her kitchen. Creative and crafty, she wove baskets, cross-stitched, and made memorable costumes, including the iconic Funshine Bear and an MC Hammer-style jumpsuit with dramatic lapels and a massive bow. She was famous for her Christmas cookies and hot ham sandwiches wrapped in tin foil, and she cherished her lilac bush, the birds that nested there, full moons, Mackinac sunsets, GNO outings, Bocce Long Island iced teas at East Side Mario’s, Mary Poppins, Gloria Estefan, lighthouses, and green tea with mint. Above all, she loved God, her children, her grandchildren, her family, and her friends.
After a long and trying battle with early onset Alzheimer’s, Jackie passed peacefully, surrounded by her four children who shared memories and told her how much they loved her. In her final weeks she was cared for with great devotion by her friends, family, and caregivers. Her family is deeply grateful to the caregivers at Bridgeway Park, the nurses with Residential Hospice, and the team at Senior Care Network for their years of support.
