Jacobo "Jake" Baca

Jacobo "Jake" Baca was born on January 27, 1957, to Simon and Bernardina Baca, and passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, at the age of 69. He left this world surrounded by the love and care of his family while in hospice at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jean and Russell Piersol.

Jake carried a gentle spirit and an innocent face brightened by a glimmering smile that could melt any heart. His laughter, playful mischief, and warm greeting of “How are you?” made everyone around him feel seen and valued. He lived for many years at El Mirador Group Home, where he formed deep bonds with his housemates and the caring staff who became cherished friends. Jake found great joy and pride in competing in the Special Olympics in swimming, later enjoying basketball, bowling, and time spent with friends and family. His happy-go-lucky nature and loving heart drew people to him naturally.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Bernardina Baca; his grandparents, Luciano and Rosenda Baca; his brother, Simonsisto Baca; his sisters, Shirley and Dolores Baca; and several aunts and uncles.

Jake is survived by his sister Senovia Baca and her two children; his sister and brother-in-law Mary Jean and Russell Piersol, their four children and seven grandchildren; his brother Ricky Baca, his two children and two grandchildren; his brother-in-law Philip Baca and his two daughters and two grandchildren; as well as his uncle Wilfred and aunt Donna, aunt Viola Gabaldon, aunt Eva Hogue, and many cousins and extended family members who loved him dearly. His life remains a lasting reminder of unconditional love, joy, and the simple power of a smile.
