Jacob Willis Briggs

June 17, 1991 March 13, 2026

New Bedford, MA

Jacob Willis Briggs, known to all as Jake, passed away unexpectedly at home on March 13, 2026, in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Born on June 17, 1991, in Halifax, he was the beloved son of Robert and Anne Briggs, formerly of Halifax and now of New Bedford.

A proud graduate of Silver Lake Regional High School, where he excelled as a football player and wrestler, Jake went on to earn a degree in Criminal Justice from Massasoit Community College and continued his studies at Bridgewater State University. He found his true calling in the kitchen, working as a chef in various restaurants where his talent, passion, and vibrant personality consistently shone.

Jake was larger than life to everyone who knew him. He had a gift for making people feel safe and truly understood. Fiercely loyal, he stood ready to defend and protect those he loved without hesitation. His quick wit, infectious humor, and warm presence could light up any room and lift any spirit. He loved Halloween for the chance to dress up and bring laughter to others, and he was the heart of every gathering, always ready with a joke or story. Beneath his playful exterior lay a deeply caring heart. Jake treasured time with family and friends, finding joy in simple pleasures—camping, fishing, sitting by the fire, and listening to country music. He lived boldly, fully, and unapologetically, pouring himself into every moment.

He is survived by his parents, Robert and Anne Briggs; his siblings, Joseph Briggs and his wife Rachel, Amanda Briggs and her fiancé James Griffin, Rebecca Briggs and her partner Johnson Louicar, and Nicole Briggs and her husband Adam Briggs; and his cherished nieces and nephews, Alyssa, Haylee, Lylah, Mya, Cody, Jonah, Jovanni, and Josiah. He is also survived by his aunt, Helene Urbano. Jake was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Helen Urbano. He leaves behind countless friends whose lives were touched by his unwavering loyalty and generous spirit.

Though his time was far too short, Jacob lived wholeheartedly and fearlessly, surrounded by love. The memories, laughter, and devotion he shared will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
