Jacob G. Elgersma, 71, of East Moline, passed away on March 10, 2026, at MercyOne Genesis Silvis Medical Center in Silvis, Illinois, surrounded by his family.
Born on November 29, 1954, in Morrison, Illinois, to George and Henrietta (Gruis) Elgersma, Jake graduated from Erie High School in 1972. He married Vickie Guinn on July 20, 1974, in Erie, Illinois. For 36 years he worked as an electrical supervisor at the 3M Company in Cordova, retiring in 2010.
Jake found great pleasure in camping, boating, traveling, and playing cards, especially Euchre. A lifelong enthusiast of cars and tractors, he loved sharing stories about them. He took special delight in watching his grandchildren participate in sports and cheering them on. He and Vickie also treasured their winters in Arizona, where they enjoyed the company of close friends and created many lasting memories.

He was the friendly, talkative neighbor who always had time to chat and share a story. He shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Henry, who remained faithfully by his side as his constant companion and best friend.
Jake is survived by his wife, Vickie Elgersma of East Moline; daughters Jeni (Matt) Allison of Rapids City and Nikki (Chris) Sloan of Milan; grandchildren Ethan (Cassie) Allison, Erin (Boomer) Davis, Boston Leighty, Wil Leighty, Owen Allison, Dexter Allison, Jaxson Sloan, and Miles Sloan; brother Robert Elgersma; sister Rita Elgersma; and his dog, Henry. He was preceded in death by his parents.
