Jackie Steele ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Freeman Funeral Home Inc on Mar. 16, 2026.Jackie Jeanine Steele, 79, of Sawmill, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on March 14, 2026, in Bland, Virginia, after a courageous battle with a long illness.Jackie was born February 3, 1947, in Vincennes, Indiana to the late Russell Lowell & Carrie Ann Mason Hall.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Steele; two daughters, Judy Steele and Tawny Johnson; her sister, Mary Lane; and her brother, Russell Hall.She lived a life rooted in faith, family, and kindness. To nearly everyone who knew her, she was lovingly called "Momaw Jackie," a name that reflected the deep love she had for her family and the joy she found in caring for those around her.Momaw Jackie loved going to church, listening to Elvis, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family was the center of her world. She was the kind of person who would put her own life on hold whenever someone she loved needed her. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering love left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.She will always be remembered as a glass-half-full kind of person, a true ray of sunshine whose warmth and positivity brightened every room she entered.While her family mourns her passing, they find comfort in knowing that the love she poured into her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will live on for generations to come. Momaw Jackie's legacy is one of faith, love, and a family that will forever.Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Dawn (Paul) Baisden; her grandchildren, Jeremiah (Sarah) Adkins, Jacob (Brittani) Adkins, Miranda (Preston) Smith, Chauncey Johnson, Tasha Hoosier, Cara Baisden, and Miriah Baisden; and 26 great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy and pride.Services will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, March 20, 2026, at Striker Bible Church with John E. Godby officiating. Burial will follow at the Baisden-Steele Cemetery, Harts, WV.Visitation will be on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at the church.Pallbearers will be family and friends.Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
