Jack Y Stewart

August 16, 1936 March 6, 2026

Georgetown, TX

Jack Y. Stewart, 89, of Sun City in Georgetown, Texas, died peacefully on March 6, 2026, at Cornerstone Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Born on August 16, 1936, in Sabinal, Texas, Jack was the son of William Clarence Stewart and Eula Keeney. After graduating from Brackenridge High School in San Antonio, he served in the United States Air Force on active duty from 1955 until his honorable discharge on March 16, 1958. He married Carol Strange in 1960; she was the mother of his children, and their marriage lasted until 1995. On April 3, 1998, he married Donna Dehnert Stoeckelmann at the First United Methodist Church in Duncanville, Texas, where they first met.

Jack built a long career with National Cash Register and the Department of Defense’s Army Air Force Exchange Service. He particularly cherished his years with AAFES, which allowed him to travel the world visiting military bases until his retirement in 2004. After retiring, he and Donna moved to Sun City in Georgetown, where they embraced an active life filled with travel in their RV club across the United States and Canada with their schnauzer Eddie, neighborhood games of Mexican Train and Jokers, and gardening with the Horticulture Club. Jack was an enthusiastic collector of friends, hats, t-shirts, pocketknives, and countless other items, yet his greatest treasures remained his family. Known affectionately as Pop, he was deeply grateful for the many reunions, birthday celebrations, and gatherings that brought his loved ones together.

He is survived by his wife Donna; son Bryan Stewart and wife Mary; daughters Cynthia Alsup and husband Mike, and Mary Elizabeth (Beth) Trevino and husband Pedro; stepchildren Christen Stoeckelmann, Elke Stoeckelmann, and Brett Stoeckelmann and partner Chelsy Covington; grandchildren Amada Hartwick and husband Jeff, Alicia Allen, Matthew Reichert, Audrey Wood, Katie Dickens and husband Chester; step-grandchildren Liam and George Stoeckelmann; great-grandchildren Sydney, Estella, and Preston Hartwick, and Jack and Case Dickens; sisters Amy Barfell and Clairice Whitton; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dog Sassy Sister. He was preceded in death by his sisters Patricia Reese, Mary Jones, Hazel Kruger, and Elois Thornblom, and his brother Glen Stewart.
