Waller, TX
Jack Butler of Waller, Texas, passed away on March 9, 2026.
Born on April 1, 1954, in Buffalo, New York, Jack was the son of the late Francis Butler and Marguerite Raty Butler. He grew up in Buffalo and spent extended periods in Belgium as a child, places and experiences he recalled fondly throughout his life. As a young man he traveled across the United States with friends before making his home in Houston, Texas. There he built a successful business, CQ Copier Services, and became an active member of the Mexican American Golfing Association and the Knights of Columbus.
A devoted fan of the Buffalo Bills and Houston Astros, Jack found great pleasure in golfing, bowling, attending football games, tailgating, and watching baseball from the Crawford boxes. Yet his deepest joy came from time spent with his children and grandchildren. He lived fully and generously, working hard, loving deeply, and embracing every chance to be with family and friends. Known for his loyalty, humor, and endless supply of stories, Jack drew people to him with his warm presence, signature hugs, and the three kisses on the cheek that always accompanied his goodbyes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Marguerite Butler, his sister Catherine, his brother John Paul, and his brothers-in-law Art Lachut and Joseph O’Brien. Jack is survived by his children, Brooke Bettis (husband Wes), Sierra Short (wife Becky), Sheridan Kimble (husband Dustin), and Austin Butler; his grandchildren, Londyn, Elyin, Kaydence, Kennedy, Magnus, and Vivianne; his siblings Bernadette, Christian (Ginger), Mary, Franceanne, and sister-in-law Karen; his nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children, Alicia.
