He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Laban A. Atkins and Lena Ray Atkins; and his siblings, Garrett, Terrell, Luther, Don, Roscoe, Redford, Max Atkins, Nola Shepherd, Dixie Bennett and Ethel Anders.
He is survived by: his wife Maggie Riddle Atkins; and his son Wayne Atkins (Lisa).
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12th 2026 from 1:15 PM to 2:15 PM at the Chapel of West Funeral Home (17 Merrimon Ave, Weaverville, NC 28787). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 12th 2026 at 2:30 PM at the same location.
