Union, Pennsylvania, to the late Ivan Miller Phillips, Sr. and Joyce Lajune Phillips (Posey). After completing his education, Ivan answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force. Through dedication and hard work, he faithfully served for 24 years and rose to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant (SMSgt) before retiring from active duty.Following his distinguished military career, Ivan continued his service by working in civil service at Robins Air Force Base as a Quality Inspector. His strong work ethic, knowledge, and commitment to excellence made a lasting impression on those who worked alongside him.Ivan was a man of many talents and interests. He enjoyed playing cards and dominoes, listening to smooth jazz, and relaxing with a good cigar. He loved cooking and found great joy in preparing meals and serving others. Known for his intelligence and skill, Ivan could fix just about anything. Whether working as a handyman or mechanic, he took pride in solving problems and helping those around him.Above all else, Ivan loved his family deeply. Time spent with his loved ones meant everything to him, and he especially cherished moments with his grandchildren, who brought him tremendous pride and happiness.In addition to his parents, Ivan was preceded in death by his precious grandson, Gabriel.He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Charlene Elizabeth Phillips (Barksdale); his children, Ivan Miller Phillips, III (Yolandria), Tinisha Snowden, Arthur James Omar Phillips, and Jason "Jake" Phillips (Danielle); and his ten grandchildren, Jaren, Chason, Phoenix, Lauren, London, Amiya, Jazmyn, Jaylon, Jordyn, and Lincoln.Ivan is also survived by his siblings, Sarah Lorraine Rogers (Richard), Latona Ann Heaster, Joyce Elaine Phillips, Cassandra Montgomery (Glenn), Perry Phillips, and Asa Nicole Winters (Manzie), along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many friends.He also leaves behind dear friends Eddie Causey and Dakerrah, along with her children Najara and Sariya, who held a special place in his life.A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel, with visitation for family and friends beginning one hour prior to the service.
