Watson III, passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the age of seventy-nine years, eleven months, and fourteen days.He was born in Runcorn, Manchester, England, to the late Iva D. Watson, Jr. and Doris Ainsworth Watson. At the time of his birth, his father was stationed overseas in military service, and his mother became what was proudly known as a war bride. When Iva was twelve years old, the family returned to the United States, where he would grow up and eventually begin a life of service much like his father before him.Following in his father's footsteps, Iva joined the military on April 22, 1963, at the young age of just seventeen. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in many locations throughout his distinguished career. Known for his strength of character, leadership, and steady guidance, he earned the respect and admiration of those who served alongside him. After twenty-two years of dedicated service to his country, Iva retired with honor as a First Sergeant on September 30, 1987.On September 15, 1968, Iva married the love of his life, Sharon Lee McKuhen. Their marriage was a beautiful partnership that spanned fifty-eight years, filled with lots of love, laughter, and devotion.Above all else, Iva treasured time spent with family and friends. He had a deep love for travel and adventure, exploring both the United States and destinations abroad. He held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and joy, as well as for his extended family in England, with whom he maintained a cherished connection with.Iva lived a life defined by service - to his country, his family, and those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy is one of dedication, strength, loyalty, and love. Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created and the example he set will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.In addition to his parents, Iva was also preceded in death by one sister.Iva D. Watson III is survived by,Wife,Sharon Lee McKuhen WatsonSons,Christopher WatsonMichael WatsonDaughter,Lisa WatsonSeven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three siblings, and three cousins in England also survive.The family chose cremation and there are no formal services scheduled at this time.
