Israel Perez

May 3, 1931 March 11, 2026

Brooklyn, NY

Israel Perez, 94, of Brooklyn, New York, passed away on March 11, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on May 3, 1931, in Hatillo, Puerto Rico, he left his homeland at the age of eighteen in 1949 and settled in New York. He began his career as a self-employed car service driver and later purchased a truck and route, working independently at Goodman Products. Known for his strong work ethic, he retired at the age of 62.

A devoted and honorable family man, Israel was a gentle giant—humble, old-fashioned, and traditional. He found joy in cooking, fishing, playing dominoes, and listening to the music of Trio Los Condes. He returned often to Puerto Rico, his cherished patria. One of his proudest creations was the “Little Puerto Rico” shed he built in his backyard, complete with an authentic zinc roof, where he cooked on his fogón and enjoyed a Bacardi and coke, creating countless warm memories for those around him.

He was the beloved husband of the late Ana Angelica and the devoted father of his daughters, Vilma and Madeline. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Fabian and Manuela, and his siblings, Lydia, Daisy, and Felix.
