Ishmael Eugene Rogers

Ishmael Eugene Rogers, 88, of Peru, Indiana, passed away on March 13, 2026.

Born on August 17, 1937, to Hazel (Robbins) and Matthew Rogers, Ishmael married Virginia Eileen Simmons-Doan on August 6, 1958. The couple shared 63 years of marriage before Virginia passed on February 11, 2022.

Together they raised ten children: Mischelle (John) Pulver, Rebecca Miller, Katherine (Robert) Melanson, Ishmael Rogers II, Nathan (Johanna) Rogers, Michael Rogers, Amy (Roger) Ramsey, Virginia Mae (Mark) Detamore, Eugenia Kay (Jeff) Chandler, and Jody (Leslie) Rogers. Ishmael and Virginia were blessed with more than 18 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Virginia, one daughter, two daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law, his brothers and sisters, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ishmael will be deeply missed by his large and loving family.
