Isaac Batiste

Isaac Batiste, 70, of Opelousas, Louisiana, passed away on March 5, 2026, at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Born on December 22, 1955, in Lafayette to Stanley Batiste, Sr. and Lydia Duhon Batiste, Isaac worked as a skilled floorman throughout his career. He was known for his humor, kindness, and the deep love he held for his family.

He is survived by his wife, Melinda Nimer Batiste; daughters Maris B. Smith and husband Eric Smith of Arnaudville, Elise Batiste and husband Kendrick Broussard of Lafayette, and Michelle Roy of Carencro; brothers Adam Batiste, Sr. and Cynthia Briscoe, Wilfred Batiste, Stanley Batiste, Jr. and wife Genita Lemelle Batiste, Oliver Batiste, Sr. and wife Catalina Charles Batiste, and Ernest Batiste, Sr.; sisters Elizabeth Batiste Sharlow and husband Timothy Sharlow, Gail Batiste Allen and husband Fredrick Allen, Kelly Batiste Dugas and husband Kevin Dugas, and Vallery Batiste; stepchildren Amanda Gordon Tyler and husband Rico Tyler, Michael Franklin, Irisa Nimer, Ebony Stewart, Desmond Nimer, Brian Stewart, and the late Frank Nimer; and a host of grandchildren he cherished.

Isaac was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Batiste, Sr. and Lydia Duhon Batiste, and his brother Harold Batiste.
