Irvin E. "J.R." Kamman

Irvin E. "J.R." Kamman, 59, of Edinburgh, passed away on March 8, 2026, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Born on April 14, 1966, in Columbus, Indiana, he was the son of the late John S. Kamman and Hazel Karch Kamman Clayton.

A graduate of Columbus North High School, Irvin dedicated more than 25 years as a union carpenter with Local 301. His skilled craftsmanship reflected his strong work ethic and deep appreciation for community. Equally important to him was his love of the outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, he found peace and happiness in the landscapes of Indiana.

J.R. was a familiar voice on the CB radio, where his friendly conversations, stories, and good humor drew lasting friendships. His approachable and warm-hearted nature left a lasting impression on those who knew him.

He is survived by his sons, Joshua and Chris Kamman of Shelbyville, Curtis Kamman of Edinburgh, and Adam Kamman of Columbus; his grandsons, Ari, Aiden, Christopher, and Xen Kamman; his sister, Rebecca Kamman Gurley of Arizona; and his niece, Claire DelRio, and nephew, Jeremiah Harvey, both of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.

Irvin’s stories, laughter, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
