October 24, 1943— March 10, 2026
Seminole, OK
Irma Jean Ross of Seminole, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the age of 82. Jean was born on October 24, 1943, in Okemah, Oklahoma, to Kermit and Ruth Lorraine (Hamilton) Snow. She spent most of her life in Seminole County, growing up in Cromwell and graduating from Butner High School in 1961. She worked as a real estate agent and small business owner before joining the Defense Logistics Agency, where she served as an administrative assistant at Tinker Air Force Base until her retirement on March 1, 2006.
Jean was a devoted mother who became the dedicated “softball mom,” attending every game and tournament as her daughters grew up. She cherished her music, especially Elvis, Kenny Rogers, The Eagles, and Jelly Roll. She enjoyed painting, lively games of cards with a glass of good wine, and frequent casino road trips in pursuit of the jackpot. Each week she looked forward to her seat at bingo night at the Senior Citizen Activity Center, where she delighted in the colorful personalities around her. She also treasured her circle of friends, including The Midnight Writers, a group that collaborated on a book by passing chapters among the members; Jean was proud to become a published author with them. Trips with her friends often turned into memorable adventures filled with unexpected stories.
Jean is survived by her two daughters, Shonda Ross-McGuire of Seminole, Oklahoma, and Ta’mara Ross of Harrah, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Ashleigh Ross and Zackary Hamilton; one great-grandchild, Ayden Hamilton; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jerry Snow of California; her sister, Darlene Factor of Cromwell, Oklahoma; and her grandson, Kordel Ross-McGuire of Seminole, Oklahoma.
