Irma Elda Avalos of Del Rio, Texas, passed away on March 12, 2026, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family. Born on January 3, 1958, in Del Rio, she remained a proud lifelong resident of the community she cherished.

Irma dedicated forty years to education as an elementary teacher and P.E. coach, shaping the lives of generations of children in Del Rio. Her former students remember her encouragement, her strength, and the unwavering belief she placed in them when they needed it most. She was a devoted member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, where her faith guided her care for others and the way she lived her life.

She found great joy in being surrounded by family and friends, cherishing gatherings filled with laughter, music, dancing, good food, and backyard barbecues. Irma is lovingly remembered by her son, Adrian Avalos, her sister Pat Bell, her nephew Stanley Bell, Jr., her niece Sharmaine Duncan, and many extended relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac H. Avalos, Sr., and Minerva Avalos, and her beloved brother, Isaac “Bubba” Avalos, Jr.

Her memory, her faith, and the love she shared will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, former students, and all those in the Del Rio community whose lives she touched.
