Irma De Jesus

Irma De Jesus, 80, of Bright, Indiana, passed away peacefully on the evening of Monday, March 9, 2026. Born in Puerto Rico, she grew up in New York before settling in North Carolina, where she worked as a certified nursing assistant. In 2007, she moved to Bright to be near her daughter and her family. A devout Christian, Irma found a welcoming community at Bright Christian Church, where she spent many happy hours with her church family making blankets for the Ronald McDonald House and supporting other missions.

Strong-willed and quick to remind others of her New York roots, Irma was a woman of deep conviction who was not easily swayed. Beneath that strength lay a heart of gold. Though sometimes shy and soft-spoken, she was incredibly sweet and loved her family with her whole being. She had moved back to Puerto Rico to care for her parents and later cherished every moment spent spoiling her grandchildren with love and words of wisdom.

She will be deeply missed by her daughters Nancy Centeno, Suzy (Frank Hanson) Centeno, and Gina (Joe) Kirk; ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; and her siblings Rosa (Larry) Little and Rafael De Jesus. Irma was preceded in death by her siblings Nylda Morales, Raymond De Jesus, and Elizabeth De Jesus, as well as her parents Irma Nieves and Rafael De Jesus.
