Sioux Falls, SD
Iris Neumiller, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and formerly of Java, South Dakota, died on March 8, 2026 at her son’s home in Sioux Falls.
Born Iris Verona Stroh on January 1, 1933 in Bowdon, North Dakota, she was the daughter of Henry and Leola (Werner) Stroh. She attended Bowdon Public School and graduated with the Class of 1950. On October 6, 1950, she married Emil Andrew Neumiller in Bowdon. The couple lived there until 1953, when they moved to the Java and Selby area of South Dakota. While raising their four sons, Iris also worked outside the home, serving in the dietary department at the Selby Good Samaritan Society, as a bailiff when circuit court was in session in Selby, and as a waitress at the Gold Nugget in Bowdle. Emil passed away on April 26, 1980, after which Iris continued to live in Java until moving to her son’s home in Sioux Falls four years ago. She found quiet joy in solving jigsaw and crossword puzzles and was an avid reader throughout her life.
Iris is survived by her sons Glen Neumiller of the Philippines and Hugh Neumiller of Sioux Falls, her brother John Stroh of Bowdon, seven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Emil, her parents Henry and Leola Stroh, her sons Kent and Ryan, her brother Jerome, and her sister Pamela Frueh.
