Iona Noger ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Kerr Brothers Funeral Home - Harrodsburg Road on Mar. 8, 2026.Iona Moore Noger, 93, of Lexington, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2026 at her residence.She was born July 6, 1932 near Louisa, Ky. to the late Frank and Golda Woods Moore. She is the widow of Martin C. Noger, who proceeded her in death in 2015. She is survived by 5 children, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. The children are Connie Turner (Charlie) and her daughter Emily Turner. The second child is Tony with son Luke. The third child is Rick with sons Alex (Adeline) and Zack. The fourth is Vickie Heierman (Bill) with son Scott and daughter Jill. The fifth child is Mark (Joanne-fiancé) with son Jacob (Hannah), and daughter Maggie Coe (Derek). The great grandchildren are Turner and Whit (Emily), Eleanor and Judd (Jacob), and Riley (Maggie).She graduated from Louisa High School and started at the University of Kentucky at the age of sixteen. While there she met and married Matin C. Noger. While raising her family she returned to the University of Kentucky and graduated with a BA degree in education. She went on to complete her M. A. in education and Rank One in administration. She taught at several elementary schools in Fayette County including Yates, Tates Creek, Cardinal Valley and Squires. She taught in the classroom and was also a reading specialist. She loved helping students succeed.She was a member of Andover campus of First United Methodist Church of Lexington, was a Stephens Minister, belonged to the Mu chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa educational sorority and enjoyed playing bridge. She and Martin loved to travel and spent their retirement years traveling to Europe, Australia and much of the U. S.Services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, March 14, 2026 at the First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 5 pm- 8 pm, Friday, March 13, at the Kerr Brothers on Harrodsburg Road. Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Andover United Methodist Church of Lexington or the Kentucky United Methodist Children's Home.
