Inocencio Garcia ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Resthaven Funeral Home - Sinton on Mar. 16, 2026.Inocencio Ruiz Garcia, 88, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family.Inocencio was born on December 28, 1937 in Mexico to Florinda (Garcia) and Pablo Ruiz. From a young age, he carried a strong work ethic, deep faith and a love for family that would guide him throughout his life.As a young man, Inocencio became part of an important chapter in history. He was a member of the Bracero Program (1942–1964), the largest guest worker program in American history. Along with millions of other Mexican workers, he helped provide food for American families in the years following World War II. His life was marked by sacrifice and perseverance. He traveled back and forth between Mexico and the United States many times, enduring hardship and uncertainty, all in pursuit of a better life for his family.Inocencio's determination and courage were rewarded when President Ronald Reagan signed the Immigration Reform and Control Act (Simpson–Mazzoli Act), granting legal status to hardworking individuals like him who had helped build and support the country. His journey and sacrifices made it possible for his family to follow their dreams and build their lives in the United States.He was incredibly proud of his sons, especially when they chose to serve the country that he had grown to love and call home. Above all else, Inocencio was a devoted husband, a loving father and a proud grandfather. His greatest joy in life was his family. The love he had for his wife, sons and granddaughters was deep and unwavering, and the memories they shared will forever remain in their hearts.Inocencio was a man of faith who believed strongly in God and the promise of eternal life. His family takes comfort in knowing that one day they will be reunited again.He is preceded in death by parents, Pablo Ruiz and Florinda Garcia; his other parents, Cirilo Ruiz Almazan and Felicitas Garcia Cano; stepmother: Josefina Ruiz Garcia; and his siblings, Guadalupe Ruiz Garcia, Jose "Pepe" Ruiz, Ismael Ruiz, Raul Ruiz, Jesus Ruiz Garcia and Josefa Ruiz Garcia.He leaves behind his beloved wife, Leocadia Ruiz; his sons, Noe Ruiz, Julio Ruiz and Adan Ruiz; his cherished granddaughters, Rose Ruiz and Ravina Ruiz; and his siblings, Aurora Ruiz, Benjamin Ruiz, Homero Ruiz, Bertha Alicia Ruiz, Elizabeth Ruiz, Daniel Ruiz, Martha Ruiz, Noemi Ruiz, Griselda Ruiz, Maria Luisa Ruiz Garcia and Ruben Ruiz Garcia.Visitation will be held Friday, March 20, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home in Sinton, with a funeral service beginning at 7:00 PM that evening. Visitation will resume at 9:00 AM on Saturday.
