Born on December 28, 1943, to Sixto and Magdalena in McAllen, TX. Inocencio met his beloved wife, Florence, at a dance in Joliet, IL. Married on May 21, 1966, they made a home in Lockport, IL where they raised two children, Diedra (Snapp) and Michael.Inocencio was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle. It is no wonder he was nicknamed "Easy" with his soft-spoken, laid-back nature, calm spirit, and quick-witted humor. Inocencio carried a deep faith in Jesus Christ and had a love for all living things. There wasn't a plant he couldn't nurse back to life, and he was inseparable from his beloved dogs.Inocencio led a life of service. After surviving a heart attack, he offered support and encouragement to fellow heart attack patients as a memeber of the Mended Hearts. He served as President of Del Villa for 15 years-providing support for the children of migrant workers as part of the Head Start program. Inocencio founded the Joliet March for Jesus and proudly served as organizer for 10 years. He and Florence volunteered with Lamb's Fold in Joliet to help support un-wed pregnant mothers-often opening their home to the young women and caring for them during their deliveries at the hosptial.Inocencio was preceded in death by his mother, Magdalena, and father, Sixto; brothers, Natalio (Isidra), Ireneo (Juana), and Sixto Jr., and sister, Guadalupe (Ireneo).He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Florence; sisters, Maria (Raul), Irene (Juse), Sanjuanita, and Herminia (Humberto), children, Diedra (Patrick) and Michael; grandchildren, Dedrick, Isaiah, Sophia (Will), Alicsander (Grace), Josh (Hannah), and Julian (Roxy), and great-grandchildren Mia and Shai.To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Inocencio Ortega, please visit our floral store.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
