In Loving Memory of Bernette "Bernie" Hniedziejko

Bernette "Bernie" (Michaud) Hniedziejko passed away on March 11, 2026. Born on May 4, 1947, in Eagle Lake, Maine, Bernie graduated from St. Agatha High School before moving to the Hartford area in search of new opportunities. She began her career as a secretary and later married James Hniedziejko, who predeceased her. Together they raised a family and eventually settled in Torrington, Connecticut.

Bernie worked for many years at the Torrington Company, where her determination earned her a technical license and the role of machinist. She continued her career at Brunswick Golf Manufacturing Company and was a proud member of the machinists union. In her later years she moved to Winsted, Connecticut, where she retired.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nadine and Joe Doherty of Goshen, Connecticut; her son, Ken Nejako, and his partner, Lacey Leone of Torrington; and three beloved grandchildren, Sara Doherty, Joseph Doherty, and Stephanie Nejako.

Bernie will be remembered fondly for her unwavering kindness, generosity, sense of humor, and her deep love of children and music.
