June 11, 1930— March 13, 2026
Maysville, MO
Idella Frances Barton, a lifelong resident of DeKalb County, Missouri, passed away on March 13, 2026, at Sunset Nursing Home. She was born on June 11, 1930, near Weatherby to Byron Harwood and Roberta Allen Harwood. Idella graduated from Maysville High School in 1947, attended Maryville College, and began her teaching career at Mt. Hope.
On December 26, 1947, she married Robert “Bob” Barton, and together they farmed while raising their three children, Duane, Joyce, and Ann. A devoted member of the Oak Christian Church, Idella taught Vacation Bible School and served her community in many capacities. She was a proud PTA president, 4-H leader, VFW auxiliary member, and contributor to the senior tax board, ABC board on aging, and nutrition board, all while caring for her family and friends. Above all, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; her son, Duane Barton; her brother, J.B. Harwood; her sister, Jean Pritchard; and her grandson-in-law, Max Poster.
Idella is survived by her daughters, Joyce (Ron) Rogers and Ann (Rod) Budgett of Maysville; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
