Idell Carter Burnette

Idell Carter Burnette of Greeneville, Tennessee, passed away on March 15, 2026 at the age of 86. She left behind a lasting impression on all who knew her, remembered fondly for the quiet strength and gentle presence she brought to her family and community throughout her long life.

Predeceased by her parents, Crawford Carter and Edna Solomon Carter; her husband, Willie James Burnette, whom she met at Blanton's Business College; and her siblings, John Carter, Jack Carter, Bill Carter, Tom Carter, George Carter, Alfred Carter, Rex Carter, Kenneth Carter, Wayne Carter, Irene Rupert, Mary Seay, and Patsy Hawk, Idell is survived by her daughter, Samantha Burnette and her husband Gary of Raleigh, North Carolina; her grandsons, Benjamin Burnette of Denver, Colorado, and Matthew Burnette of Raleigh, North Carolina; her sister, Shirley Golden and her husband Loyd of Mosheim, Tennessee; and many beloved nieces and nephews, including Katherine Solomon, Linda Carter and her husband Sam, Todd Hawk, Pam Gaddis, Rebecca Hurst, Barry Golden, Garry Golden, Melissa Golden, and Agnes Fortner and her husband Harold. She is also survived by numerous other family members, including great-nieces and great-nephews.
