In 1973, he was accepted into a highly competitive midwifery nursing program, ranking 24th out of 1,500 applicants before civil unrest interrupted his studies in 1975. He survived the hardships of war, concentration camps, and the Khmer Rouge era.In 1978, while volunteering at Srah Srang Hospital in Thailand with the Red Cross, he met the woman who would become his wife. Together, in the early 1980s, they built a new life in the United States.He worked at Winzer and as a prep cook at a French restaurant before spending nearly three decades supporting the Dallas Juvenile Detention Center. A gentle and patient man, he loved learning, studying languages, helping friends, gardening, cooking, and following Cambodian current events.He is survived by his beloved wife, his son, his daughter, and his remaining seven siblings.He will be remembered for his calm spirit, humility, and patience.Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Jeter & Son Funeral Home, 4830 West Illinois Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75211.To plant Memorial Trees in memory of Huy Kok, please click here to visit our sympathy store.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
