Denver, CO
Hugh Gustafson, 69, of Denver, passed away on March 6, 2026. Born in Denver, he was the son of Walter and Helene Gustafson.
From his teenage years, Hugh developed a deep passion for the food industry and became an accomplished chef. He cooked professionally as well as for friends and family throughout his life. He was an avid fly fisherman who traveled extensively, casting lines across the Rocky Mountains and in the waters of Alaska, Australia, and New Zealand. He also enjoyed camping, science fiction films, and a wide range of music.
A skilled tradesman, Hugh took on projects of all kinds, from home construction, painting, plumbing, and electrical work to intricate woodworking and the repair of musical instruments. He was known for his quirky wit and enthusiasm for conspiracy theories. Hugh was never happier than when working with his hands. He loved listening to the radio, especially during Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies games.
He is survived by his parents, Walter and Helene Gustafson, and his sisters, Leslie Gustafson-Reis and Dana McAllister (Patrick). He was predeceased by his brother Timothy and his twin brother Mark.
