Hubert Terry Cottle

Hubert Terry Cottle, known to all as Terry, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, at ECU Health Service League of Greenville Inpatient Hospice in Greenville, North Carolina. Born on September 18, 1951, in Burgaw, North Carolina, he was 74 years old.

The son of the late Earl and Annie Mae Norris Cottle, Terry devoted 27 years of his working life to the North Carolina Department of Transportation before retiring. He found deep joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially the time spent with his grandchildren. He rarely missed their ball games and took particular delight in watching them play baseball. Terry loved pier fishing along the coast, cracking pecans, and watching “Walker, Texas Ranger.” He also enjoyed coloring, programming scanners to help others, and serving as the family’s trusted “Mr. Fix-It.” His loyal dog, Dixie, remained a constant and cherished companion.

He is survived by his wife of many years, Shelby Hatcher Cottle; his sons, Kevin Cottle and wife Briana of Colerain, and Darren Cottle and wife Stephanie of Williamston; and his beloved grandchildren, Alden, Noah, Chance, and Madilyn Cottle. He is also survived by his sister, Sharon Mirchandani and her husband Mike of Raleigh, as well as his nieces, Shannon Stinnett and husband Mike of Wake Forest, Kishni Holley and husband Andrew of Wake Forest, and Jennifer Mirchandani of Raleigh, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
