Howard Lee Trippett, age 90, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, at his family residence. Born on April 12, 1935, he attended St. Therese Catholic Church. He retired from the Peerless Confection Company after many years of service. Howard was also a dedicated member of the Romeoville Fire Department from 1968 to 1977 and served as Mayor of the Village of Romeoville, Illinois, from 1981 to 1985.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Frances Mae Smith Trippett. Howard was a devoted father to his sons Howard, Carl (Eva), Michael (Andrea), and John (Kathy). He was a cherished grandfather to Samantha (Andrew) Godfrey, John (Anna Heath), Leeanna, Alyssa, Maelaina, and Michael (Cherilyn), and a proud great-grandfather to Shaun Hartung, Zayden Heath, Olivia, Jordyn, Patrick Godfrey, and Kaylee Godfrey. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Verna Griggs, nephew Jeffrey Griggs, brother Paul Trippett, sisters Doris Linn and Elizabeth Carpenter, and many loving nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn Howard and Gertrude Louise Vincent Trippett of Bellview, West Virginia, as well as Hudson W. Griggs and Sarah A. Griggs Poole. He was also preceded by his brothers Walter Trippett and Carl Trippett.

He will be remembered as a devoted family man whose quiet strength and lifelong commitment to service touched all who knew him.
