Homer Roman Granius of Destin, Florida, passed away on March 5, 2026. Born on November 20, 1928, in Duvall, Wisconsin, to Desire and Verna Malcore Granius, he married Elaine Ledvina on October 14, 1950. Homer learned to weld at Bay Ship Building in Sturgeon Bay and later opened Granius Welding Shop near Luxemburg, Wisconsin, in the late 1950s. There he built farm wagons and provided custom welding and fabricating services until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine; daughters, Mary Granius Salm and Paula Smits and her husband, John Smits; grandson, Michael Smits (special friend, Megan Hein); great-grandson, Luca, and great-granddaughter, Macie, as well as Megan’s children, Caeden, Kennadee, and Kaysynn; grandson, Matthew Smits and his wife, Megan Millot Smits; and granddaughter, Erica Salm Rensch and her husband, Tyler, and their children, Ricky, Brighton, and Lincoln. He is also survived by his brother, Roland (Leland) Granius of Panama City, Florida; sister, Christine Chaudoir of Brussels, Wisconsin; and sister, Jeanne Gigot Bushner of Casco, Wisconsin, and her husband, Bill.
Homer was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Rick Salm; brothers-in-law, Llewellyn Gigot and Jack Chaudoir; sister-in-law, Judy Granius; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Watzka, and her husband, Jerry.
