ROCKINGHAM — Hilda Collins McDonald, 84, of Rockingham, passed away Friday, March 13, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born February 8, 1942, in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Justin Ralph and Grace Moss Collins. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter McDonald and a sister Carolyn Collins Hewitt. Hilda graduated from Rockingham High School and worked for many years at WAYN Radio Station as office manager before retiring. She attended McDonald Baptist Church faithfully for many years and loved spending time with her family. She was a loving and devoted mother and an exceptional grandma whose love and memories will continue to live on in the hearts of those who cherished her most. A graveside service will be conducted Sunday, March 22, 2026, at 2 p.m. at McDonald Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Branton officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service in the church fellowship hall. Surviving, are her daughters, Lori McDonald and Kathy McDonald; Grandsons, Ty Trammell and Jaxson Simmons; Sister, Patricia (Pat) Blake; Brothers, Justin Ralph (Bo) Collins (Patsy) and Tommy Collins (Barbara); And numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Richmond Co. Hospice, 1119 US Hwy. #1 N. Rockingham, NC 28379. The family will be greeting friends at Hilda's home, 297 Graham Bridge Rd., Rockingham, NC, 28379.
