Herbert Rodney Tunnell III

Herbert Rodney Tunnell III, 79, of Charleston, West Virginia, passed away on March 7, 2026, at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston.

Rod is remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He shared 55 years of marriage with his wife, Susan Ellen Tunnell (née Turnblacer). He is survived by his daughter, Ruth Ellen Tunnell of Charleston, West Virginia; his son, Christopher Rodney Tunnell and his wife, Sandra, of Ashland, Ohio; his granddaughter, Madeline Tunnell; and his sisters, Anne Felker and Sarah Tunnell, both of Tucson, Arizona.

A requiem mass was held for him at the Basilica of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Charleston on Saturday, March 14, at 10 a.m., followed by burial at Alliance City Cemetery in Alliance, Ohio.
