July 1, 1927— March 13, 2026
Perry, GA
Herbert Franklin Moore passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, at the age of 98. Born on July 1, 1927, in Detroit, Michigan, to Max and Katie Moore, he celebrated his first birthday in Perry, Georgia, after his family relocated there. He lived his entire life in Perry, graduating from Perry High School before proudly serving in the U.S. Army. Upon returning from military service, he earned an associate’s degree from Draughton School of Business in Atlanta and began his career in business.
Herbert’s deep love for Perry and its growth was evident throughout his life. He co-owned and operated MM&B with partners W.G. Mullins and Jackie Beavers, working as a real estate broker to develop homes and neighborhoods in the community. He later transitioned into the insurance business, where he invited his sons to join him after college, building a trusted legacy of service for families in Perry and beyond. A longtime member of Perry Presbyterian Church, he served as Elder Emeritus.
Herbert was preceded in death by his parents; his devoted wife of nearly 60 years, Joan Moore; his son, Johnny Moore; and his brother-in-law, Otto Weitzenkorn. He is survived by his sons, Dan Moore (Ann), Mike Moore (Amy), and Bob Moore (Kerri), all of Perry; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Elaine Moore Weitzenkorn; and his daughter-in-law, Vivian Moore.
