Hollandale, MN

Henrietta (Terri) M. (Boverhuis) Weeks, age 84 years, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer on Thurs, Feb. 26, 2026 at St. John's Lutheran Home in Albert Lea, MN.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at the Hollandale Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Wendell Davelaar officiating. Burial will follow at the Hollandale Cemetery. Visitation be held for 1 hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm.

Terri was born on January 27, 1942 to Reinder and Louise (DeBoer) Boverhuis at their home near Platte, South Dakota. When she was 2 years old her family moved to Hollandale, MN where she was a member, baptized and confirmed, at the Hollandale Christian Reformed Church. She attended the Hollandale Christian School.

Terri married Lyle T. Weeks in Kansas City, Missouri in 1965. Their daughter, Kim Renae, was born in 1967. Terri and Lyle later divorced and Terri and Kim moved to Rock Valley Iowa and also to Pella, Iowa where Kim could attend school for her special needs. Terri worked as a house parent during this time for the schools. Later Terri and Kim moved to Austin, MN where she was an Apartment Complex manager for several years. Eventually they settled in Hollandale to be closer to family.

Terri enjoyed gardening and flowers, fishing, being outside among nature and playing a mean game of cards. She was a faithful penpal for many years to the prison ministries- correcting study guides and encouraging the students growing in their faith. Terri was a faithful prayer warrior to anyone she knew who was suffering. Terri appreciated her church family and felt very loved by the visits, prayers, cards and gifts of food during her illness.

Terri was a devoted mother- she loved Kimmie beyond measure. She was a strong advocate and caregiver for Kim from the day she was born. Kim always had the best schooling, healthcare and doctors she needed for her special needs. As with any mother, Terri never thought anyone could take care of Kim like herself- we promise to do our best Terri.

Terri is survived by her daughter Kim Renae; sisters Grace (Dean) Bos, Marlene Passow; brother Harold Boverhuis; many nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great nephews. She is also survived by her very special friends who were like family to her- Mark and Deanna and their family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Reinder and Louise; sister Jennie Eekhoff; brothers Bernard, Howard and Ralph Boverhuis. Sisters-in-law Marian, Connie and Jean Boverhuis. Nieces Kris Steiner, Maribeth Walton and nephews Steven Eekhoff and Mark Greving.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at St. John's for the excellent care given to Terri during her stay there. Also for their love and kindness shown to Kim. Thank you to her Hospice group who went above and beyond with their care, concern and help over these past years. Thank you to Deanna and daughters for your visits, massages, stay-overs and love- we appreciate you more than you'll ever know. Also appreciated are Terri and Kim's special neighbors- Crystal and Bernie Drenth- your pop- in visits and watching eyes were a blessing.

Terri had requested that any memorials please be directed to the Hollandale Christian School.

Blessed be her memory.
