Born on September 11, 1952, in Langen, Germany, Helga was known for her warmth, creativity, and zest for life.Helga was raised amidst the vibrant colors and fragrances of the floral industry, dedicating her entire life to the art of floristry. In 1989, she was honored for her extraordinary creativity as a Master of Floristry Art at the prestigious Landesgartenschau Baden-Württemberg. Two years later, Helga, alongside her husband Paul, embarked on a new adventure by moving to the United States, where she continued to share her passion for flowers.Her joy for life extended beyond her work. Helga loved traveling, engaging in lively conversations with friends, savoring good food, and losing herself in the pages of a good book. She found serenity in practicing Tai Chi and prioritized self-care. Her gentle spirit was reflected in the loving care she bestowed upon her beloved cat, Smokey.Helga shared a unique bond with her lifelong friends Heidi and Jürgen Bremer, both born in Langen just days apart from her. Helga's infectious laugh left an indelible mark on her schoolmates, who fondly recalled her joyous spirit during their class reunions.Though preceded in death by her devoted husband of 50 years, Paul Stephen Macko, and her dear parents, Erich and Alma Siebert, Helga leaves behind a legacy of love and creativity. She is survived by her best friend Heidi Bremer, Heidi's husband Jürgen, their son Victor, and her goddaughter Inga Bremer, along with Inga's husband Janosch Kabella and their daughter Mathilda. During Mathilda's last visit to Virginia Beach, Helga shared her passion by teaching Mathilda the art of flower arranging, a memory Mathilda will cherish forever.A host of special friends, including Beverly Wayne, Tracy Gales, and Tim Swartz, will remember Helga for her warmth and kindness.Helga Ingrid Macko enriched the lives of all who knew her with her artistry, laughter, and genuine spirit.
