Helen "Vicki" Wilson Murray

Helen “Vicki” Wilson Murray, age 81, of Belews Creek, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Walnut Ridge Assisted Living. Born in Monroe, North Carolina, to the late Dr. Frederick Mark Wilson and the late Helen Anderson Wilson, Vicki was the granddaughter of Dr. Mark Stanley Wilson and Virginia Mae Russel Wilson of Marlington, West Virginia, and Clifton Thomas Anderson and Susie Frye Anderson of Monroe.

She graduated from Monroe High School and Meredith College in Raleigh. Vicki spent many years teaching elementary school and pre-kindergarten, nurturing a lifelong love for children. A woman of deep faith, she cherished her church, where she sang in the choir and participated in Bible studies. Her greatest joy came from time spent with her family, especially her daughter and three grandchildren, and from her regular visits to the Kernersville YMCA. Known for her kind and radiant spirit, Vicki offered compliments and gentle words to everyone she met, touching countless lives with her warmth.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Clifton Wilson. Vicki is survived by her daughter, Helen Murray Altman, and son-in-law, Wes; her three grandchildren, Tate, Kaleigh, and Dylan; her lifelong friend, Ted Murray; her sister, Nancy Queen, and brother-in-law, Christy; her sister-in-law, Alison Wilson; her brother, Mark Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.

Vicki was laid to rest in Ashe County, North Carolina.
