Helen Sanchez

Helen F. Sanchez, age 73, of East Bernard, passed away on March 8, 2026, surrounded by her family at Southwest Memorial Hospital.

Helen attended St. Mary’s Catholic School through fourth grade before graduating from West High School in 1971. A longtime member of KJZT since the age of nine, she was preceded in death by her parents, George A. and Frances Prnka, and her brother, George F. Prnka.

She is survived by her husband, Jessie Sanchez Jr.; son Jessie Sanchez III and his wife Shauna; grandchildren Kimball, Jacoby, and Gavin; daughter Kasey Sanchez; brother Edwin Prnka and his wife Annette; nephew Jeremy Prnka and his wife Justyn; and niece Jennifer Jares and her husband Garrett.

A talented master seamstress, Helen poured love and skill into every garment she created, including cheerleader uniforms for East Bernard and Brazos High School in her younger years. She cherished watching her grandsons play in the front yard and ride their bikes, and she delighted in seeing her granddaughter dance and spin her color guard flag. Helen loved baking treats for her family, tending her beloved garden oasis filled with flowers and plants, and searching for antiques at estate sales with her husband, often refurbishing them together. Her creative hands, generous heart, and quiet devotion to her family remain a treasured legacy for all who knew and loved her.
